We talked briefly at your shop around the 24th of July 08. I live in Lakewood Wa. and taught photography at college level and had my own advertising photography business for 20 plus years so I feel somewhat qualified to comment. You were too modest in discussing your Hawaiian flora collection. The research and the leg work alone represent great effort on your part and you should be very proud of your accomplishments. I believe you mentioned you didn’t have an expensive camera. Your work shows that isn’t a must. You have the eye for good composition which in my view is more important. For me, often when I stumble upon a plant I want to photograph it is compromised some how. Bad lighting, distracting background etc. So I take it anyway and I have the photo but may have to wait till the next opportunity to improve on and upgrade that particular plant picture. Photographers I have known seem to either go for the basic photos and are of a documentary style and quality or go for the more artistic photos without the research and the descriptions. Your work is a good blend of the two. I am putting your site in my favorites and will be looking in frequently.
    Mahalo for sharing.
